QUICK ACTION THROTTLE
Is there any particular one that will work with the storm?
Any off the shelf HRC style kits?

I used this one
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-CBR-100 ... _500wt_922
Your cables will be a bit short so it won't go back together normally, but if you remove the adjusting screw from the inside end of the top cable, it gives you the 4mm extra you need

Re: QUICK ACTION THROTTLE
QA throttles are usually 1/4 or 1/3 turn from off to fully on IIRC.

diy m8, just slip a 6mm x 1mm x 40mm spacer on top of the tube, under the cables.
you dont even need to strip it to fit it.
i did this on top of my rvf750 throttle tube and its ace.
part number is on here somewhere - theyre about £16 delivered from silvers.
makes a big difference to how the bike rides but it's not uncontrollable.
sometimes promotes impromptu wheelies over speed humps though lol

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Re: QUICK ACTION THROTTLE
Round town you have to be a bit more gentle with the throttle, but the storm carburates so well and has such linear power it is no problem.seb421 wrote:Thanks mate, will fit on next time i come to do the filter

I think it is now a 1/4 turn to full throttle, and out on the road it really suits the bike and makes all the power accesable, but still nicely controllable. You just have to recalibrate your wrist a bit and it will take away some of the safety margin if you wind on the power exiting a damp corner if you are normaly a bit aggressive on the throttle.....so you have to learn to be smooth....which is a good thing to learn when riding anyway

Think i will leave this one till it warms up, dont fancy learning to use such a short throw given the ice we had last night, back end was spinning getting up the hill from workAMCQ46 wrote:Round town you have to be a bit more gentle with the throttle, but the storm carburates so well and has such linear power it is no problem.seb421 wrote:Thanks mate, will fit on next time i come to do the filter

Re: QUICK ACTION THROTTLE
I am running an HRC 1/6 turn tube (for an SP/RC51), have been for two years now. The only issue is that it's at the very (very!) end of the adjustment range. As for daily life, no problem, you get used to it. FWIW, my bike has lightened flywheel, light rear wheel (PVM), aluminum clutch plates, lighter conrods, balanced crank, high comp pistons,.... so throttle response is significantly quicker than most VTRs and I have had no issues. You just learn to be more sensitive with your inputs. Nice mod IMO

Re: QUICK ACTION THROTTLE
Just checked and mine is just a bit less than 1/4 turn perhaps 1/5, but defiantly not as quick action as mik's 1/6 turn.
I just fitted it during the winter hibernation, but because it has been so mild I have already done about 400 miles with it and it has made a big improvement to the bike....I don't know why it took me 10 yrs before I did this mod!

QUICK ACTION THROTTLE
Before you do this mod, although its far from expensive, I found moving the throttle forward made a positive difference to how easy and quickly you get to the throttle stop.
I was fed up of having to twist the throttle then almost having to release it and grip it again to ensure I hit the stop. Moving the entire throttle assembly froward, meaning clockwise when looking at the bike from the right side when sitting on it, made hitting full throttle much easier.
Another option to consider.

No bike (yet).
