Varadero's 43mm forks will mean a sloppy fit...

Just search on this forum.
This has been discussed so many times I can't keep track.

I agree Tony - when I want to know something about a car or bike, I search the forum first to see if the question has been asked before and a solution found. Usually the answer is "yes". Next week there will be another one asking "should I change my CCTs?".

I agree that the first port of call should be the search function, however would this not lead to a stagnant workshop section in the forum? Most problems that happen with the bike will have a fix already posted here already.

I think that some long established members on here that have done all the mods and fixes to their bike forget that newbies dont just want to read about a fix/mod which was done 2 years ago.

What they are looking for is interaction with other forum members so they feel part of a community with a common purpose not just reading old posts. If they wanted to just read and not interact then that would be the first step towards the death of the forum.

If anyone comes here and asks for help I think we are duty bound to our fellow stormers to help them out.

I really love the community of this forum and it has helped me out of a few bike problems in the past. I would like to think that new members with mechanical problems get a proper answers to their queries and not the "use the search function" answer.

Just my tuppence worth.

I agree, but if someone has a firestorm and has a problem with it why can't the first post be in the workshop section??

I do understand forum etiquette etc but its not as if they are just joining the forum to sell something (hence why the for sale section is locked till a certain amount of posts are made etc)

If newbies are not allowed to ask in the workshop section for their first post why dont admin just lock that down too.

Im not trolling but it sometimes annoys me the way the I have been here longer than you brigade act towards newbies. Im not specifically talking about this forum as I have always found this place to be an enjoyable place to be for both information and entertainment.

This is not just a bike forum its infotainment.

Yeah, sorry 'bout that; I'm normally pretty tolerant.*

And sometimes a new look at an old problem can lead to new answers.

I'll have to work out how to post links to previous threads on day...
