Wrapping

Post by seb421 »

Well bugger me, what a feckin ball ache, i won another black tank on ebay and decided to get on with the wrapping

i would like to be able to say its sorted and done, but its not

how the wombles these people do this for a job is beyond me, what a nightmare!!

cant get the air bubbles out and one side has more scrunch on it than Gandhi's baldrocks

Giving in with it now, also the black paint underneath shows through the vinyl wrap, would have to have a white wrap under it or a base coat paint

Going to cut losses and just take it to a painters like I should have done a while ago!

The curves on the tank seem almost impossable to me for wrapping only a good finish on flat surfaces I think. shame because it would look amazing :!:

HAHA cheers mate, just wish it had gone to plan, live and let live tho eh!

Tanks been taken to some guy in Farnworth, gave him pictures of a repsol tank so he can place my black wings correctly and also some pics of how the tank sits on a storm

also gave him the rear light fender thing cover fairing so he can paint match the orange

Fingers crossed its a good match!!!!

I want the rear pyramid under-tray red too, but dont have the money so that will have to wait.

I put c/f wrap on the tops of the fairings behind the screen as there was a chemical burn and everyone comments how good it looks. I would like to do the whole bike but when I looked at the tank it appears beyond me would have to get it professionaly done. :(

i think if there was a group of people doing it say three at least it would be doable, one to work the heat gun, one to pull the fabric and one to smooth and stop it scrunching

once it has formed a scrunch it was a nightmare to get apart.

might be something to try at a workshop day with plenty of hands to go around

any way hopeful this painter is going to be good, how much would you expect to pay for a tank painted orange mate? so i know to tell the guy to carry on or bugger off

Would some one be able to colour match with podercoat?

only asking because if so I could get the tank back and get the wheels done at the same time :)

Well this guy's said between 150 and 200 quid to do the tank and apply the decals as asked

sick of wombles about now and just want it done so gave him the go ahead, I think its a bit steep but I dont want to waste any more time.
