whats the best advice for overhauling front calipers

Post by agentpineapple »

tonight i'm picking up a pair of 1998 fireblade calipers that i bought on ebay over the weekend :D thanks for the heads up mik str
Image
they only cost me £26 and after chatting to the seller over the weekend, he assures me they are in tip top condition, a right nice fella, we ended up chatting about his fireblade with a single sided swingarm and what not.
so as the title suggests, even if they look A1 i still reckon i'll be tinkering with them, what advice can i get.......

Pump the pistons out
Split the calipers And give them a good clean
Polish the pistons
Check the seals replace if damaged
Use red rubber grease on the seals when refitting them And on the pistons
Replace the rusted bolts with nice ti or s/s Ones

Sorry officer
The voices made me do it

change them anyway. and new fluid. and banjo copper seals.
soak the lot in parrafin / diesel before reassembling, make sure everything is spotless.
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.
