Front end CBR 600 RR, Monster seat
Front end CBR 600 RR, Monster seat
Any special builders out there done the CBR RR front conversion 04 RWU forks. I have just this moment purchased the complete front end, Wheel, discs, calipers, yokes and levers for £150 they seem at first a lot lighter than Firestorms and beefier. What I would like to know has someone done the same so they could help me with what route to go down with bearings etc. The bike I'm building will be inspired by a 50's Cafe Racer Light and low, I have already got a Ducati Monster seat unit which if anyone wants to know fits quite well, bare metal tank so far and of course the front end. When it warms up a little here in the UK I will post some pic's to give you a taste of how it's going. The Ducati seat is being used because my girlfriend likes to ride pillion, its approx 4 in shorter than standard so gives it that aggressive look.

Ah, yes, one of those 4" shorter than standard, aggressive girlfriends.linden46 wrote: my girlfriend likes to ride pillion, its approx 4 in shorter than standard so gives it that aggressive look. [/b]
I had one of those.
Don't have her any more, just the scars.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Joking apart or am I in the wrong forum, someone must have some relevant information on the CBR 600 RR 03 - 04 front end conversion. I will of course resend set up information as I go along as I'm sure members will find it useful.

Re: Front end CBR 600 RR, Monster seat
i'm with lloydie on this one, i myself have put a cbr954 front end on a firestorm, a lot chunkier, and a reasonably easy conversion, sorry i haven't heard of anyone doing a cbr600rr front end, i would check to see how long the forks are, if there short it might bugger up the handling. and depending on weitheryou are keeping the original fairing, you could have issues there aswell, but i doubt you will be keeping fairings if your doing a cafe racer.
would be good to see pictures and keep us informed of how its going fella......

HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!
Re: Front end CBR 600 RR, Monster seat
Hey thanks for that and you could be right, the CBR have 850 mm length forks which are shorter than the Storms, maybe someone get tell me what handling issues I could expect. The reality could be I have to sell the forks and go with the Blade route. Keeping the CBR calipers, discs and wheel. CBR specs 45.0 mm (1.8 in) HMAS cartridge fork with spring preload, rebound and compression damping adjustability; 4.7 in (119 mm) travel, Front Brakes Dual four-piston calipers with 310.0 mm (12.2 in) discs.

How much shorter are they if it's only 50mm you and just put risers and renthal bars on as the fork top will be level with the top of the yoke
Sorry officer
The voices made me do it

Re: Front end CBR 600 RR, Monster seat
Yeah that's an option, 50mm looks to be the difference.
Re: Front end CBR 600 RR, Monster seat
Or a cranked top yoke.
I'd definitely not fit a shock spacer, though, and you might find that with the bike on its nose you may need a steering damper, also ground clearance issues of you plan to track it.
Due to the weight difference you'll need to play about with springs and oil level/weight, or get it set up by a sussie specialist.
Like the idea of the seat. though. Get them pix up, and good luck with the forks.

Ok I'm struggling to upload images on here so I have posted some on my web site http://www.lindenadamsphotography.co.uk ... _sale.html
then click onto VTR Cafe Racer build. I have simply offered up the front end for now nothing is tested or bolted down tight.
