CCT tension .

Post by Diabolus »

I know you've heard it all before, but being a worrier I'm now thinking the tension isnt spot on the rear pot sounds alittle rattly is it ok to adjust them whilst engine is running or am i hearing a normal engine sound :?:
Has anyone a vid of how they rattle when too slack or screech when too tight :?:
I've seen a vid of when a gixer's cct has failed and sounds worse than a diesel engine. :!:

im assuming theyre manual tensioners then???
if so, yes, you only want to go like 1/2 turn though tbh - too much tension & you will lose power, stretch the camchain, damage the guides and soft cam bearing face.

much safer to pop off the cam cover, easy to do on the rear pot.
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Save yourself a lot of money and get someone experienced to look at them for you .If you are not sure you are better off with the standard ones with the 9mm plug conversion . The right tension is not easy to achieve without removing the head covers .

Finger tight and back-out a 1/4 -1/2 turn

linky not worky.

im getting the point that nearer rattly is better than too tight.

Better near rattly when cold so that allows for the dynamic expansions when hot

"finger" and "tight" can be fiendish keywords - esp for Gary Glitter :shifty:
