Slick 50

Someone has recommended 'Slick 50' for a Firestorm but wouldn't this drasticly interfere with the wet clutch?

I would have thought so, if fully synthetic can make it slip

I have used slick 50 in my cars cause I used super market oil, but I would not bother with the expensive oils I use now cause they have additives in them.

my old man talked to a Volvo marine engine service engineer and said he encountered a new engine that had seized, after plenty of investigation he found that slick 50 additive had been used from the beginning and due to no wear in the engine whilst running in when the guy gave it some after the 30 hrs running it seized.

this proves that it can work, but I change my oil every 3000 miles with oil that cost 25 quid a gallon, with the cost of slick 50 on top I would have to walk to some of the bike meets.

Fully synthetic oil interferes with Firestorm wet clutch? I didn't know that! What's that all about?

I had a VW polo which dumped all its oil without me realising on a long m/way trip. Noticed 3 months later I'd been driving all that time with nil oil and no damage was done which I put down to slick 50. I've never tried it on a bike though but I'd imagine it wouldn't get on with a wet clutch.

It's not designed for wet clutches; it's for car engines.

There's a motorcycle one. Also, some cars have wet clutches.

I've used it for years on bikes. Never had a problem.
I've never put it in a new engine though. Normally I'll shove it in once the bike has a few miles under its belt. Ie 12 or 16k service. It' a one use treatment so you don't need to keep repeating with every oil change or it would start to get a bit expensive then. Cant really see the point either if you don't intend keeping the bike as it's really designed to improve longevity and you wont reap the benefits until you start putting some miles on the thing.

So maybe I should save my pennies in the future. Shame about there not being any positives to smoking either
Why is it I want to believe it though? It sounds like such a good idea that it should work. Maybe that's what make it sell? I've always been a cynic and thought the petrol companies would only put in as little additive as possible so they could make more money. So buying aftermarket additives has always made sense to me.

Probably the most important part of the additive link above is where it says 'what good they might do is probably not of much value for the average vehicle owner who takes proper care of the vehicle.
