Fuel Filters??

Post by seb421 »

If I fit in-line fuel filters to the storm will it restrict fuel flow and starve it at full throttle?

The tank i got sprayed up is full of crap, dont know how this guy has got so much sh1t in his tank???

mine had 37,000 miles or more and is spotless inside no bits rattling around when dried out and off the bike

struggling to get the muck out and dont want to run it as it is, if i put some in-line fuel filters on the fuel lines will this be okay?

Any good brands to get or fuel filters to stay away from?

Thanks chaps

seb ive got a bag of them in my garage if u want a couple.
no point buying them fancy ones - you want the see thru ones, throw them away when theyre dirty.
no point paying that much for something you'll throw away - thats like wiping your butt on gold leaf :eh:

oh mate what a joke the b8stard 'on holiday'

took the filer cap off and he's managed to get spray inside the tank too, and done all of the spout right into the tank what the hell man!!!

and the fuel tap on the underside that's caked in paint had to scrape the paint out of the taps where you put the fuel lines and vacuum pipe too, what a joker!

the paint tho is great so many coats such a rich think finish. just a shame he put the stripes where he has.

got a wedding to go to down south so dont have the money be getting the tank re-done now by another painter (would never use the same guy again)

so going to have to live with it for now

got my new black belly pan on and decals so that's a plus!

when ive got the tank back i will will take some pics just been a bit pissed off with it all

No, not fitted as standard.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

there is that shitty gauze type thing that's just above the fuel tap into the tank, is that a filter as such Tony?

dont know how good that would be at filtering all this crap so not risking it my self

also Benny i read ages ago you said about replacing the rubber seal when you take the tap off, think it was a post to do with changing from a 16ltr to a 19ltr any way, i cant find a replacement rubber seal for the tap on the 16ltr tank.

do you know the part number or have a link please mate?
also would it be okay if i clean it carefully and apply something to lubricate it like Vaseline to stop it drying out, this is usually common practice with keen fish keepers done with rubber gaskets in aquarium filters to stop them perishing with salt and other additives that usually ruin them in about a year or so with out a lubricant

Thanks guy's

Also does any one know a part number for fuel lines for the storm?

these 8mm fuel filters have turned up but could have done with a 10mm or even 12mm hose fitting i think

You'll need ickle clamps to keep the filters securely in place as the Storm IIRC has 10mm ID fuel hoses :eek2 and don't forget to prime the filters to avoid them airlocking.
