Custom Digital Dash

Post by Webbnuts »

Hi folks.

Just thought I'd share this idea with the forum. I'm building a custom digital dashboard using an Arduino board. This board takes digital and analogue inputs and provides digital and analogue outputs, so things such as water temp and oil pressure can be displayed on a digital screen from taking mechanical readings - or at least thats the plan!

There will be a startup sequence that is shown in the picture, and then various levels will be displayed. It will feature an alert for when the sidestand is down, and will also alert you if the bike has been ridden for 30 seconds without putting the lights on.

This is what I've got so far lol!

I'm hoping to mount it in the little gap between the screen and top of the existing instrument cluster! Watch this space....

Its open source development stuff, If I get the code right I'll happily share it with you! Will do a wiring diagram when its finished so anyone wants to have a crack can feel free! The control board was about 12 quid from ebay, the screen a couple of pounds. It will all be done on a budget as any spare money I have goes through the twin 48mm carbs!!!

Sounds like you could use a second display to show speed/revs- revs as a bar, like the later Storms and SP's.

I'll be having a little go.

Well done.

I did think that but my friend Jon who is helping with this project doesn't think the board and screen would be able to keep up with the Revs! I would like digital rev's in addition to the rev counter on the bike but will start with the basics.

I may have over 50 of these displays in the scrap shed out the back at work. IF the engineer has not done his job and put all the parts on eBay and scrap the rest....
Will check on Monday
