It wraps on the fuel tap and doubles back hangs/drapes under the tap to avoid fuel leaks/heat from the head. The two slots in the rubber shield go over the matching protrusions nr the back of the tank where the shock mount bolts is. Do what you can and we'll look at it properly in April.

Did you find anything untoward to account for your problem?

thanks wicky your speed and helpfullness of reply is 2nd to none!

well i havent found anything wrong with the airbox /carbs that i can see but this process is painfull due to lack of time and knowledge on my behalf. its also been a while since i tried looking closely at the plumbing on a bike and my eyes up close are getting sh1t! my glasses are only any good for reading ! that bike is like a black hole, anything i drop does not come out of the bottom!

am now going to try some of the other points that tony mentioned.

fed up as currently unable to ride it!

Frustrating - Hope you find it - Check that the spark plug cap hasn't come loose and obvious things (hamster sucked into your airbox) like that as you said IIRC it was running fine one moment then performance suddenly tailed off.
