Side Stand Switch.

Post by Jimb0b »

My side stand switch is playing up so i got another one 2nd hand but it has 3 wires on and my bike only has 2.
I know it's a long shot and i'm guessing you can't but is there a way to use a 3 wire switch on a 2 wire bike?

You can, but you'll need to meter it to find out which one/ones to connect.

It's just an on/off switch, either passes or doesn't pass current when sidestand up, opposite when it's down.

Have a look at the electrical schematic to see how it's connected (in Workshop stickies) and meter your new one to see which wires you need to connect.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

I found a diagram of both switchs and i think it will work.
Will try it tommorrow and see i guess.

edit. Works just fine, just ignore the yellow wire and hook up the 2 green ones as normal
