How to wire LED rear light with built in indicators??

Post by JWB125 »

Hi all. Just had my new rear LED light with indicators built in only to find that the wires are different colours. What I think are the indicator wires are 2 yellow wires and they are longer than the rest, and the 3 other wires are red black and green which I presume to be the stop and tail. On taking the old light out I have found there are 3 wires to each bulb and colours are brown green and striped as per manual. I havent got a clue about wiring so could anyone help??? :confused :confused :confused

I did the whole led thing on my gixer but on a summers day in bright sunlight there not as visable as normal bulbs, as pointed out by a mate following me.
Im not that bothered changing the storms, has anyone else found this is the case ?? LED does look more clean and modern but is there a safety issue?? :eh:

Those ones (indy's) built into the rear light are sh1t. imo

I've seen them from behind and they are crap for visibility, much easier to see a separate light blinking

If its supposed to have factory fitted indicators it will 99 times out of 100 require them as said for the MOT, I doubt these new ones are CE approved and E marked

Can you post a link please to the indicators would like to have a look, at 20 quid that's cheap, in general I'm a fan of cheep Chinese manufactured stuff but would probably draw the line at safety, you wouldn't know if you was on it riding if the light packed in causing someone to go into the back of you, also the discs they make are crap too, just do a search on them as well mate

#140598844722 is the number on ebay. Its smoked by the way. £17!!!! plus postage. Mine did take a long time to come but I suppose if you contact the seller he may increase the price and send it by better post. The first one never arrived but I contacted him by email and he sent another out no problem. The same tail light in clear would cost about £70 here. Hope this helps.

Not a bad price but can see you the indicator flashing at a distance (or indeed up close) when you are indicating and braking at the same time?

Can you post up a video or some pictures cheers, might get my self one to replace my clear one if they are of good quality

Yeah its bright. The only thing is that it flashes faster than the origional indicators but the standard front ones flash at the same time. The pictures on ebay are as it is. Cant fault it really and for the money its a steal.

With out an in-line relay fitted it's causing it to flash like that it will fail the MOT

you will need to correct this to get it through they wont pass it if its blinking so fast

if you could take some pictures that would be great want one as the dark smoke will match the ones I have just bought for the front but don't want to waste my money if its not bright enough for me, cheers

Not got a clue how to post pics or vids but basically the light looks as per the pics on ebay. My friendly mot guy said he would pass it no probs but he did say that there is a law coming out regarding indicator spacing. Hope this helps and for £20 ya cant fault it really.

Went out for a blast to the local bike night (swancote, bridgenorth road) yesterday. Mate following me on his R1 said the rear light was plenty bright enough in blazing sunshine and looked trick. There were a few storms there too, some standard, some modified. Great ride out!
