tyre choice
tyre choice
guys, a little advice needed, its now time to change the rubber and i have narrowed my choice down to the bridgstone BT014's http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290442841572? ... 3681wt_956 and the maxxis supermaxx diamond http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300657233557? ... 4020wt_956 both seem good and heard good things about those maxxis, at the moment my rubber is pirelli diablo's so any of you guys got experience with either, or have you got some better suggestions

Re: tyre choice
I loved the original supermaxx on my old one. Gave me loads of confidence in the wet and dry. I've got diablos on this one and they dont feel very good at all.
Can't say I've tried the diamonds but they have an aggressive profile like you see on dunlops so ought to be good while leaned over. They are definitely on my lust of to buy nexts

Re: tyre choice
thanks KarlosVTR, i have never had any issues with my diablos, and those maxxis look so different to " normal tyres " that they kinda made me
but i have read good things about them, and then i think but bridgstones are good too, and i use to use the old BT010 which i liked, i did not realise that having this money in my back pocket would give me so much confusion,
now i am thinking i should just spend it on beer

Re: tyre choice
I would look at Pilot Road 2's mate , unless your a trackday fiend. More than enough grip in the dry, fabulous in the wet, and will last forever. Should find them at reasonable money too, as they've been superceeded.

Re: tyre choice
cheers lee i will go have a looksy at them too

Re: tyre choice
This is only my own opinion but if I had the money I wouldn't hesitate for a second if a set of maxxis were in front of me.

I was going to suggest them mate or the newer ones, tho im yet to try the new pilot road 3, still undecided as to bt023's or the pilot road 3's tho....hummmm
unless i was doing track days then i would say a pilot road 2 or better is all you need, loads of grip enough to get it right over and they are great in the wet too, ive tried others like the pilot power and that's just plain scary in the winter

Re: tyre choice
ok guys just a quick update, i ended up getting a set of maxxis supermax diamonds and had them fitted 3 days ago by this guy, http://www.biketyreservices.com/ he supplied the tyres and came to my work to fit and balanced too, and a great price of £200, so any northern vtr owners he is good choice, well the maxxis are scrubbed in nice now, and have to say they are awesome, at first they seem weired as they seem to be shaped like a triangle, sort of pointy in the middle of the tyre, and felt very light while riding, but once i got use to this they started to pay off, i think the shape actually helps in corners, seems to give you a bigger foot print on the road, and the diamond pattern on the edge of the tyre gives awesome grip, and while at the wirrel egg run today i got so many comments from people asking about them, they have not seem them before, and were asking all kinds of questions, so all in all i am very happy with my new rubber

Re: tyre choice
Them diamonds look nice, me likey...shame I've just bought a set of Dunlop Quali's lol
A head full of fears has no room for dreams
Re: tyre choice
I did look at those they look great and stylish, but wasn't sure how well they would compare in the wet compared to the BT023's and Pilot Road 3's so ruled them out
let us know what they are like when / if you get out on some cold wet roads, cheers mate
