head light conversion need ideas for fighter
took the fairing of today to start my fighter project but need ideas and pics of headlight conversions and how they attach to the bike.
also were can i fit the front indicators when the fairing is of, i was thinking of using the front fairing bracket.
can the originel clocks still be used or do they need changing aswell.
gonna do renthals aswell and was thinking of going a breakers and seeing if crosser attachments will fit on, has anyone tried this.
any ideas and pics would be very helpfull
cheers

thanks for that, seen the type of risers that replace the bars with renthal fittings on top but there expensive seen loads of types like yours and there reasonabley priced, is it just a case of drill holes in top yolk and bolt them on. what size of bars are yours and did you have to replace clutch pipe, throttle and brake cables.
cheers

sorry to be a pedant, but taking the fairing off your bike and adding a pair of motocross handlebars doesn't make it a "fighter".

read the post again, it says i have STARTED my fighter project............was forced of the road a couple of months ago so made the decision to fighter it.
the obvious start position is with the headlight and bars and go from there.
only got limited funds so gonna take a while to doo

the obvious start position with a 'fighter build is a tuned to the max engine....

a fighter bike is all about the looks,,,custom builds, sounds ect,rob... wrote:the obvious start position with a 'fighter build is a tuned to the max engine....
engine already done anyway, jetted, kn, cut down cans ect.
thats why im starting on the looks.
i have to start with the cosmetics anyhow cos as i already said i was forced of the road a few months ago and as my bike is used daily and my headlight brackets are broken and left bar is bent, thats why im starting at the front.
also its not going to be a £5000 fighter its a few hundred pound fighter.
my own style.

Re: head light conversion need ideas for fighter
mine isnt a streetfighter its a scrapfighter !
i took fairings off because i like naked bikes no other reason , i was never a fan of the firestorm but i bought mine to break as a none runner for £300 i got it running (starter relay and new plugs !) test rode it n liked it my bike is now on the road and owes me less than £500 as for tuned motors i dont see the point ive betten ducatis while on a cbr400 through the twistys , i rarely ride on the open road vtr has more than enough power for the roads i ride
if i want more power i'll jump on the zx9r or buy another busa
all ive done to mine is respray it from yellow to silver and fit renthals and bandit head light SCRAPFIGHTER!

not wanting to get into a slanging match, but maybe a bit of historical context wouldn't go amiss, from someone who was there at the time, and involved in building them....mark skett wrote:a fighter bike is all about the looks,,,rob... wrote:the obvious start position with a 'fighter build is a tuned to the max engine....
streetfighters evolved in the UK in the mid 80's as a b8stard offspring of 'diggers' and drag bikes.
diggers were a style of chop/low rider from So Cal that grew in the late 70's/early 80's. long, low, clip ons, rear sets, tuned harley or big Zed motors and loadsa metalflake....

this style was crossed with the 'hard as nails' look of the drag bike

and came about primarily from the launch of the 'hyper-sports' bikes from japan in the mid '80's. people used to riding Z650's and CB750's suddenly found themselves on GSXR750's, and then in casualty, and the bike ended up in a breakers, which was good news for people like me who took the motors, wheels and forks and bunged them into modified old british rigid chop frames, thus creating the new 'streetfighters'.... we tuned the motors with the only available stuff at the time; drag race parts.
a streetfighter is all about aggressive looks and performance, not bling.

so, a streetfighter should have a megga tuned motor, look aggressive as f*ck, and be rigid.
quite how, and why, the term came to be hijacked by the gay, tarts handbag, renthals and twin spots brigade is a mystery, and a source of imense frustration.

Re: head light conversion need ideas for fighter
can take your point about how fighters started, but things have evolve and will carry on too.
you could have a 100cc engine in a "fighter" these days and nobody would know.
the pics you have put on look good but will always be known as choppers. as you say breaker bikes chopped up and revamped. and as for the """gay tarts handbag renthal brigade""" is a bit harsh as theres probably people on here have them on.
and cheers vtrkidda
if i get stuck on owt al give thy a shout
