crank case breather
just a quick question if i added a crank case breather would it harm the engine any? im not fitting it for performance gain i just like the look ha ha

If sh1t were money you would be worth a fortune
Re: crank case breather
No problems at all.
I take it ypou are talking about the type that replace the filler cap?
As the other option is to do (as I have) a mod to the cam cover breathers as well.
Basically you disconnect them from the airbox and route both pipes into a catch tank with a breather attached.
The corners of the airbox can now be removed and so you now have more airbox volume.
I'd love to post that it boosts power, sadly not.
But sounds better....

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Tony, also that means no more struggling to fit the front breather hose to the air box bottom [although (even though I say it myselftony.mon wrote: As the other option is to do (as I have) a mod to the cam cover breathers as well.

A couple of questions for you Tony,
(1) Where did you find room for a catchment tank

(2) What sounds better, exhaust note or air intake

Chris.
Re: crank case breather
I used the little catch tank that lives inside the airbox.
It just (and I mean just) fits down the LH side between the rear head and the frame.
The hole that normally exits air to the airbox volume has been converted so that a little conical filter from a scooter screws in; it just fits under the tank cutout, but touches the tank.
If the tank paint was in better condition, I'd be bothered....
The intake noise with standard exhausts on just sounds weird; I had to do that to meet noise limits on a track day last year and it sounded very odd.
But with louder cans it's fine. It changes the sound of the bike a little, but soon sounds normal.

Thanks Tony for info
that sounds like a clever idea where you've fitted the catchment tank. I like the fact you used the old one from the air box, and the added filter. Nice one.

I'll do a photo shoot next time the tank's off.
You can only see the filter from the outside.
