Front headlight plug- 3 pin, WHICH is live???
Front headlight plug- 3 pin, which wire is which pleas. There is one to the left, onr to the top and one to the right as you plug it in onto the bulb. I want to connect some heated grips (i am old) and want to know which is positive and which is a negative. Are all three positive and earh on the frame? This is so i can switch the bike off and the heated grips will be turned off so as not to drain the battery. ALL help will be most useful.
Basically i have the lights on and the heated grips on, switch the lights off and the grips go off as well.

wire the grips to the sidelight circuit m8. easier to get at the plug.
i'd suggest you use a relay switched by the sidelight wiring, with the grips supplied directly from the battery to avoid damaging the lighting wiring / switchgear.
this will switch on the grips when the sidelight / headlight is on, and turn them off when the ignition is off.
you can get a suitable relay from any car accessory shop for a few £

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Sounds all too technical for me, was just going to tap nto the wiring as the headlight plug is easily visble

Re: Front headlight plug- 3 pin, WHICH is live???
The problem is if you wire it to the low beam connection when you use high beam the heated grips will not be on

that would be why the side light is the norm to wire it in thensirch345 wrote:The problem is if you wire it to the low beam connection when you use high beam the heated grips will not be on![]()

I don't think it is the norm, probably the easiestlloydiecbr wrote:that would be why the side light is the norm to wire it in thensirch345 wrote:The problem is if you wire it to the low beam connection when you use high beam the heated grips will not be on![]()
Chris.

I'm not sure the sidelight wire would be man enough for heated grips, but I could be wrong of course. Oops I've just re-read Bennys suggestion. Yes it would be fine when using a separate feed to power the grips and only the sidelight connection to operate the relay

that would suit me as never ride in the depth of night so daytime with lights on would be fine if that is the way to go?

If you don't want to make up a relay harness you can buy one from Eastern Beaver...he is in Japan, but the stuff is good and delivery is fast.
Can't find the link to his heated grip relay kit, looks like he is updating the website, but I bought one in November and I am sure if you send him a mail he will sort you out.
