Following a discussion with another member I wondered whether it would be worthwhile having a sticky thread in the workshop section with a list of tools available to borrow for specific jobs.
My thinking behind this is that across the country members must have a large selection of tools needed to complete the various jobs on the VTR, which they may use only once, or twice a year, if that much in some cases.
I know geography and postage costs will prevent the movement of some items, so maybe the thread can be split into regions.

I will start the ball rolling -

1) An ABBA stand with VTR fixings,
2) A large paddock stand which lifts by the subframe below the rear footrests (allowing removal of swingarm, shock & linkage),

3) Traxxion dynamics fork tools to strip and reassemble cartridge forks along with oil level setting syringe,
4) Motion-pro carb adjustment tool,
5) Carb balancer,
6) Angled feeler guages for valve adjustment.
7) Fork seal driver.
8 ) Seal drivers.
9) Chain splitter/riveter
10) Brake pad spreader.
All the above located in Hertford, Hertfordshire.

I have a flywheel removal tool if it helps. Though I''ve been told that the rear wheel spindle works. Screw it home tight and whack it with a hammer.....

Wicky, mine has a piece of pipe leading to a stainless tube with a sliding section. Set the slider to whatever air gap you want then fill fork to slightly over full and pull the excess into the syringe. When it sucks air you have the correct gap.

I use a long screwdriver with a bit of insulting tape at 140mm.
If the end's wet, there's too much oil.

Doubles as a screwdriver when I'm not fixing forks.





You can borrow it, but I'd need another one exactly the same as a deposit.

I have a generic clutch holding tool that works well on the VTR.
Carb balance gauges.. The ball brg in a clear hose type,
Compression tester with the correct adaptor for the VTR
Abba stand and mods that will allow you to mount on the engine bolts so you can remove the swingarm.

Angled feeler gauges for valve clearance
Perfect socket extender for plugs 1/2 drive
Just ordered carb balancing gauges
Angled long nose pliers (good for these awkward angles)
Very small 90 degree head angle ratchet screwdriver set....magnetic and bloody useful... best buy ever for really in-accessible jobs

Here's a swinging arm bearing press I made





A M10 bolt, a nut, some repair washers ground down to fit the aperture and a large socket. Oh, and a piece of wood!

bloody hell KEV nobody likes a show off ( look at all my tools) yeh you all will be!!! top bannana m8 that is some tool kit and what about DR Frankinstines creation top job STRATMAM (hate too think how you get the spanner in/out of the swing arm)
