ok guys hope someone on here can give me some help, i was out today riding from manchester and into wales then on to telford and back, about 300+ miles, well my problem is during the ride my bike started acting strange, i was riding and then i get this spluttering and the bike seemed to be starved of fuel or someone turning the bike off and on, and when i try to twist the throttle it did nothing, listening to the engine as i slowed to a stop it sounded like i was running the choke, once i came to a stop, i seemed to loose all electrics, so took off the seat and liberaly sprayed all wires with WD40, i waited a bit, then tried to start the bike, all started ok, i ran the bike and after about 5 mile i get the same thing i thought it could be crap in the carbs but not sure about the electrics, i am hoping it was down to the crappy rain which we had all throughout the ride getting under the seat from my rain suit, it even happened on the motorway home, and luckily i managed to pull in the clutch and coast to the hard shoulder, again WD40 quick smoke and she fired up, i think it happened about 6 times during the run, and was even thinking i will have to push it all the way back to manchester
thanks for any advice

bike cutting out
Re: bike cutting out
Check the front spark plug cap and the drain hole in the front cylinder as this can fill with water , also look over the tank breather hose especially if it exits into an aftermarket belly pan as there's been reports of them blocking with water in heavy downpours.
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Re: bike cutting out
Try getting it to cut out, then open the tank filler.
If there's a rush of air going in, blocked breather.
If there's a rush of air going in, blocked breather.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
Re: bike cutting out
cheers tony.mon, i am off work the rest of this week, so will get the bike out and try to get it to fail, and will try your suggestion, and also been advised that it could be a rip in the fuel tap diaphram, and going to take off the tank and have a look at that too
