SP1 style exhausts

Post by leevtr »

I've always wanted to get race cans on a storm, but so they sweep up at a steeper angle, just like the sp1. I'm guessing the way is to get the link pipes tweeked/bent somehow, but Its beyond me, and I'd want it done in a way that it looks factory finished, not like they've been in a vice. Would also need to get hangers made.

Any ideas, I'm in Romford, Essex.

go and have a chat with flowtech, they're in the chadwell heath industrial park, kemp rd, 02085861717, they mainly do cars, but they can make anything to do with exhausts, i also like the look your talking about, but my exhaust is titanium and i'm not sure if they work with that. let me know how you get on buddy

I'm in the process of doing a similer thing to you, except I have SP1 exhausts that I am fitting to storm. View Topic http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=23608 I intend to have my cans swooping up like the SP's. I will probably get SP hangers to fit somehow, as the mounts, I hope will be at the right angle.

I would be interested to see what aproach you take. Which cans are thinking of getting?

Have Fun

So far, cans of choice would be Blueflame Twin outlett jobbies. I really like the way the SP1 cans exit almost right next to the indicators. Think it would look the dogs danglies on the storm. I'll have a chat with flowtech, cheers.

I think I'm looking at having to get smaller indicators.
It will be interesting to see what flowtech have to say!

no disrespect flatline but i prefer lloydies upswept look, although they're both better than the standard look, my fav is still the high level tucked up close to the rear fairing look. then upswept(lloydies), then flatlines, then mine :(
i might have a go at twisting the link pipes to get that look, but i'd have to get rid of my machined hangers to do so :problem:

Just my opinion ( and of course its always right  ) I much prefer that to high levels.
Each to their own however.

What hangers are they, or what Bike are they originally meant for?? Guessing they're for something else, otherwise they'd be lower.

I would be interested to know what make they are too.

I thought about maybe fitting SP hangers, as the angle would all be set up right. After some research and checking out some Harris ones on fleaabay, it turns out the centre to centre distance for the subframe mounting bolts is different. Doh

There does not seem to be much in aftermarket hangers for the storm. All I can find is http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/260987171088? ... 1423.l2649
I don't particularly like the style of them and they look a bit cheap and cheasy and not very strong. May have some flex to them! I much prefer the R&G style, a bit more chuncky and don't look so flimsy.

One of the things I need to take into consideration is that I am going to loose the bottom mounting bolts on midpipes. So all the weight is going to be on the hangers. So strengh is my priority, I dont want any flex.

+1 on that. And yours being standard  Standard but wombles loud!

If it were possible to get the link pipes bent a few degrees, the footrest mounting point could be kept.
