CCTS noise

Post by StormingHonda »

Sorry to tony I did PM him but he doesnt seem to be around ( I know I only pm'd you this morning ).

Anwyay when the bike is cold as in overnight cold, I get a tat, tat, tat noise from the front. However 2 mins down the road and the sound goes away.

I spoke to a mechanic/repair man in work and he said not to worry unless the noise become permenant, then tighten up the CCTs.

I am just assuming that this is the engine cold and when it warms up and expands the CCT are at the correct tort.

thermal expansion of the aluminium block means the chain will be more slack at cold temp if you dont have auto tensioners

tbh its more likely to be the exhaust valve clearance on the front cylinder.
as in 2 shims costing a total of about a fiver.
nothing to worry about, and if the engine is quiet(ish) when warm and runs fine i'd leave it alone.

a dodgy camchain btw sounds like a metal robot rattlesnake having a fiddler in a dustbin. :eh:
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.
