Aluminium Sheet

Post by leevtr »

Just had a gander on ebay for alu sheet to make some hangers for when I get my new exhausts and have the link pipes bent to acheive that sp1 effect.
My question is what thickness should I buy?? I've seen ready made hangers for sale, made from 3mm, but I can get 5mm sheet for not a lot of money. Would this be too thick, and a pig to bend. They sell 3mm also, but I like the idea of them being nice and rigid.

Any engineers here with the answer ??

5mm will be more rigid, 3mm will be easier to work with.
I would personally go for the 5mm but then I have access to a press brake to fold parts.
Sorry this doesn`t help much.
Cheers

I dont think that will work, I'll need them to kick out a little, like the originals do.
