I have bought NGK Iridium DPR9EIX-9 plugs and I'm not sure if I'm fitting them right. I have refitted them and torqued them up but the lead doesn't push down flush.

Am I doing this right? Would water get into the plug and lead?

Sorry if this is simple but I can't find the answer using the search function.

Any advice would be appreciated.

The old plugs have a thin thread and the new ones have a thicker (about 3 times as thick) cap.

Does this need to be removed? And how?

with the standard firestorm plug caps, you dont need the ally nipple on top of the plug.
just unscrew it with pliers.

btw - iridium plugs do not last forever.
you should be changing them at least annually.
theyre past their best at 5-8k miles.

dont try to re-gap or clean iridium plugs with a wire brush as you will destrou the coating on the electrode.
if you must clean them, just soak them in petrol and use a toothbrush to clean off any deposits.
(but there shouldn't be any!)
