My 2 into 1 project now with dyno print out
This won't be a fast project it will be a bsm time project
Ive made a start on it today .
Took my old exhaust headers out the dark corner of the garage .
Its been said that if you do this you will loose bhp and gain torque .
I want more torque and I want to tinker .
Wile I was looking at the exits they look small and if I block one off this would be bad as it will be like putting a Restricter on the exhaust .
So I went with removing both of them by
Cutting just after the weld for the splitter .
This will give me better flow of the gases to .
.
I just need to find a local engineer to make me a larger bore link pipe to connect it to my large bore race can .
I also smoothed the weld on the collets as these were badly done
This should help it flow even better .
I'm having the headers sand blasted in two week so will look lots better .
I will update this as I go .

Re: My 2 into 1 project
That's a start Lloydi. I regret not taking my header pipes off, giving them a clean, fix a broken stud (only noticed the other day on front) spray Black, new gaskets. Mmmm
Keep up the good work.

I think the right! Two cans piggy back would be interesting, not seen that on a vtr before. What side are you going for left or right ? what about two cans on one side one on top of the other

if it had a single sided swing arm then twin stacks would look great .
as they do on a nc30

Re: My 2 into 1 project
very similar to what i did, i cut mine here, a bit further back than you, and ran a 65mm big bore tail pipe, (ovaled slightly to fit the downpipe shape), to a big bore stubby race can.
i'll let you know how it goes, all being well it'll be running this week.

When subjected to an electrical voltage of at least 50 volts, a cat's tail always points toward the north.
Re: My 2 into 1 project
What do you use to stick the exhaust wrap/tape around the pipes?

jubilee clips. start at the can, work towards the head. soak the wrap in a bucket of water before use, keep tension on it as you go.cybercarl wrote:What do you use to stick the exhaust wrap/tape around the pipes?

I like the idea Lloydi, I bought a single sided system off ebay last year, but it kept the existing right side exit, with a welded plate over the left side. I can feel a difference in comparison to the original system, they way you are doing it i would be interested in what you feel when you ride it with the new system on.
What mine looks like.

My 2 into 1 project
Found a place to make a link pipe locally . Taking the bike in Friday morning to have it made .
Should be fun ride there with no cans on shame it's only 2 miles from my house . Here is a pic with the 2-1 headers fitted
I'm still thinking about what angle to have the can sat at !
