Fitted vfr bars lastnight, they are from '98-01 models. I am very happy with the result, I have to recommend this modification to anyone looking to rise their bars without losing the original look. Didn't have to trim fairing or anything, just added stoppers to reduce steeering lock, doesn't really matter to me, my other bike is a Buell Ulysses, I am used to bad steering .
Also stock bar end weights work on these, cheap too.

The bars look good mate. Nice option if they make the bike more comfortable for you.

I think I may be going down this route. Wrist and neck/shoulders was aching a bit after today's ride. Handy to know the bar ends fit, I never knew that. How did you get away with not cutting the fairing?

I was prepared to cut the fairing, but by extending the steering stops by approx 3mm I didn't need to. Turn the handlebars fully to the left and fit the left bar first,horn button just touching tank,
then set up the right hand one to suit it. Needs a little bit of fiddling, I cut the dowel for the indicator cluster off and pared it slightly where the clutch lever was rubbing it. Don't cut the dowel off the throttle tube, you need to mark it and drill a new hole. If the brake hose is too short just remove the bolt in the tee and let it hang loose. Most braided hoses kits are already a bit longer and should be OK.
It's a hell of a lot cheaper than riser kits and can be put back standard if necessary.

Thanks for the explanation, that's great. All I got to do now is find some clipons at the right price. How was the throttle, did you have to adjust the cables at all? So did you just weld/glue an extra bit of metal to the stop on the yoke to extend?

Got away with the throttle cables, just turned one of them slightly where they come out of the twistgrip. Extended steering stops by glueing piece of 3mm aluminium to them with tec7. So far so good. Going for a decent spin in morning I'll let you know if they fall off .

I have VFR bars on mine and there is a noticeable improvement to the comfort.
