Anyone use these
I have bt020's on at the minute but the rear is a bit square and has got a mystery puncture, have broken and re sealed the bead on both sides and changed the valve, there are no screws or nails and no obvious holes although it loses a good 20lbs from full over 10-12 hours
so anyway, thought I should invest in a new pair and see the maxxis name about quite a bit and they're pretty cheap compared to others, £150 a pair and my local place will stick em on for 15 so if they're any good its a no brainer, any thoughts good people?
There's a flier in the latest bike magazine. A racer called Chris walker uses them in his bike school at Malloy. If there's any test of a tyre it would be the right hander at Malloy.
Personally haven't tried them but will try some of the super sport tyres for the right price.
They’re great and will outperform most of the internet worriers. If you’re going to use them, they are indeed a ‘no brainer’ but if you seek kudos, then they’ll not be for you.

Hi Pete, before you go investing in a new pair of tyres and having them fitted, I would suggest you find out where the rear is losing it's pressure. The reason is it may not be the tyre but the wheel itself. So to save you paying out for fitting and balancing twice, get that rear wheel and tyre in some water first to find that leak. Losing that much pressure in that space of time should show up as air bubbles once the leak is under water. You don't need to immerse the whole wheel under water at once, just turn it around a bit at a time with part of the wheel under.
I had a similar problem with both of my tyres at slightly different times. I ended up having to replace both wheels as the area where the tyre beads sit got pitted and very badly corroded. I couldn't prove what caused the problem, but I used to use a puncture preventative that is placed inside the tyre and remains there for the life of the tyre.
Can`t give you a mileage figure for wear as they have not been on the bike long enough but have a Sport on the front and a Diamond on the back and they have never given me any cause for concern even when "pushed" I also run a set of Sports on my GSXR750 and they stick like s**t to a blanket. Highly recommended.
It is starting to get annoying people coming up to me wondering why my tyres have an odd pattern. I've put 2k on mine up to now. I am off round europe in 3 weeks time and hope to cover another 2k. I will report back on the tyres wear then.
Oh and meant to say to Chris, I broke the bead on both side for exactly that reason, after not using the storm for about 3 weeks I noticed that the tyre was completely flat so I assumed that it had upset the bead but having cleared the inside of the rim of crud and resented its still the same, brand new valve as well so there must be a hole somewhere, as I say the rear is square from the previous owner anyway, was just hoping to hold out another couple if months til replacing as monies a bit tight still at least I get to do a massive burnout without having to worry, love getting new rubber ;)
I also run a set of Sports on my GSXR750 and they stick like s**t to a blanket. Highly recommended.
