bolt size

Post by BigVeeGrin »

just a quick question as I'm at work atm - is the starter motor bolt and nut that sits under the rubber boot at the front a 6mm one? Mines rotted to buggery and haven't got the bike with today and was going to pop into the hardware store on the way home?

Cheers

Yes, M6.
Be careful- there are insulating washers involved as well, which need to be replaced at the same time if they're not in good shape.

Halfords do replacements.

If the bolt itself is buggered, you can't just buy a replacement bolt; it means stripping the motor and rebuilding it, and filing a large-headed bolt to fit.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
