It's still a big learning curve for me mate. All I have done is research it and read a lot on the theory and different set up's and experiences people are having. I must admit though, coming from a mechanical background I am enjoying the learning and tinkering combined :) But don't get me wrong, I am willing to lend a hand wherever I can, but I am no master.

As I have found out it's not easy trying to figure out the tuning for someone else's bike as the bike needs to ridden, and I mean ridden. This is easy on ones own bike, but for others they need to describe the symptoms which can be miss described, not enough info, no note of rev range, gear position, speed etc. So most of the time someone for example will say "well my bike feels like it has less power and is a bit soft. Which does not leave much info for the tuner to work out where to go. As someone on the hawk site said "it's like going to the doctor and saying I don't feel very well. Can you prescribe me something?". So that involves even more trial and error to get thing's right. The diagnoses is only as good as the accuracy of described symptoms.

Have fun.

too right - I've read the carb bit of my motorcycle maintenance book every night. Trouble is I nod off and wake up not remembering anything!

Deny all you like Carl, it doesn't wash with some. Reminds me of something     :

Maybe, but he hasn't got a jet-related song like B-B-B-Benny Hedges has....

Carl's probably had the odd slide, though.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
