spark plug spanner / socket
spark plug spanner / socket
hi has any one in the liverpool area got a spark plug spanner or where can i get one from.
Re: spark plug spanner / socket
The one from the original toolkit works well, not many others fit.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

I don't have a tool kit either and was going to do my ccts on Saturday so may have fallen at the first hurdle?? any alternatives I can use/make? What size is the plug? I.e what size spanner/socket would fit it?
Re: spark plug spanner / socket
You don't need to remove the plugs to replace the cct's, but you do need to use a fixed socket handle (breaker bar or extension bar) to roll the engine over.pete1781 wrote:I don't have a tool kit either and was going to do my ccts on Saturday so may have fallen at the first hurdle?? any alternatives I can use/make? If you use a ratchet it will probably click on a few clicks as it pushes past compression, and you'll lose track of exactly how many turns of engine rotation you have gone, form the rear position (or whichever you did first).

Re: spark plug spanner / socket
I just thought it'd be easier to turn the engine by hand without the plugs in and also was going to replace them anyway at some point. I guess an 18mm box spanner would do if I can find one??

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Re: spark plug spanner / socket
yes it is cheep i priced a new tool kit £130 if they could get 1 so i might just pay the postage
Re: spark plug spanner / socket
£58 here for complete toolkit here http://www.motosport.com/motorcycle/oem ... 1000/TOOLS
But for the spark plugs IIRC you can use an 18mm deep socket.

It has to be very slimline to get between the head/cam cover castings.cybercarl wrote:£58 here for complete toolkit here http://www.motosport.com/motorcycle/oem ... 1000/TOOLS

A normal one won't fit, but it depends on the design.
