Tried to do a full strip of brakes/seals on Weds (in prep for fitting HEL hoses) and whilst all going well with removing calipers from the bike, the problem was met when I couldn't for the life of me get the external cap from the calipers that covers the allen bolt to remove pads. Bugger!
Tried the sliding scale of - force! (though starting to deform so stopped), release spray, heat. No joy!!
Same for both front calipers, rear was difficult but released in the end - Im so annoyed with whoever did them last - but I also suspect salt ingress/corrosion!
Impact drive; yep, thought of it but with the small deformation with a screwdriver I stopped myself. It will do no harm I guess if next step is drilling!!
Good idea but I think a screwdriver attachment on drill will slip, deforming the head even more. Impact driver is the safest bet as it's designed for this very purpose.

Right tool for the job and all that.
