Fork upgrade and refurb

Post by Flatline »

So, the rebound rods have been tapered, they can be ground but mine were done on a lathe by a friend

The end has been removed, ready for the 1mm relief hole to be drilled

Fork has been undercoated with Hammerite special undercoat, (for aluminium)

Then top coated with Black satin spray

Now need to buy a 1mm drill piece............Wombles me (as Seb would say) have you seen how small they are :eek2 :eek2 :eek2

Once that is done I can rebuild the fork and start on the internals of the second one

As the fairing is off, I reckon I will buy some Eastwood radiator paint

http://www.frost.co.uk/eastwood-radiato ... -340g.html

It costs about £18 but is designed specifically for the job, which is to stick to alloy and not restrict the cooling process

Will keep you posted

Looking good. Your doing a grand job there. I think you should buy a few of those drill bits, they will snap ever so easily if your not careful. Even if you catch it placing your drill on the ground the drill bit will just go ping, snap....

The big chap isn't me, that's the generous previous owner, I'm more middle earth than flatty :D :D :D

we are like the odd couple and only live about 10 miles away from each other. still it means that i get all the help i need with my bike as i'm not totally mechanically challenged, but flatty seems to be able to fix, build or problem solve his way around most issues. i'm sure he only crunched his bike so he could rebuild it

can't wait to see if the bike handles better after all these mods, I think he feels he's got to keep up now i've got a storm. although truth be told he was keeping up with me on my cb400 when i was riding his storm a while back :confused :confused

guess it all to do with what's on the bike rather than what's in it :D :D

No, it'd be to do with the fact that he was able to thrash the 400 mercilessly as it wasn't his.......

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
