Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
Expect a run on plastic on the commodities market on Monday "forget about Gold, Copper, Titanium, throw the big money on VTR airboxes. They are selling like hot cakes!"

To make the spacer with. Doesn't matter if you cut up a lid or a box.seb421 wrote:three air boxes?lloydiecbr wrote:Not got that far yet :-(
I need to get some crank case breather filter x4 and some hose pipe and clips
They will have to wait till next weekend as funds are low till then .
And I need to get one more air box to cut up .-)
I've got the spare I've had for a while and plan to do this mod before i get it on the dyno and set up
i would like to squeeze as much power for little money as i can outta this for now
You end up with the original airbox to sell on to recoup some money.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

That's my aim .
After the air box mod I will only have the ignition advance left to do .
Then that will be all the cheep mods done .
If I want any more power I will have to spend lots of money on pistons and cams and a younger engine to put them in

Benny posted a while ago that he may be laying hands on some Ignition advancers which resemble very closely the Factory Pro ones. Not heard anything for a while now.

I was considering this but according to Mik, Mr Ditchfield says it's not worth it.fancied that +4 advancer for years and the shift star too
I think if one has a high comp engine with new cams then it's worth the extra as you will need a bigger oil cooler anyway, as one of the side effects of the advancer is a hotter running engine.
The money for an advancer from the states IMO would probably be better off being put towards a flow commander.

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
Two possibilities:
1. You can fit a valve which lowers air pressure inside the engine, and seal the engine breathers. That reduces pumping friction and losses as the engine turns over piston strokes.
2. You can also fit an air bleed valve to allow some air to flow into the inlet tract when the throttle is closed. This reduces the engine braking going into corners- a track advantage mostly, as it reduces the chances of locking the rear under compression on downshifts while leant over. A side effect is that it will make the engine easier (slightly) to bump start.
Nether has been evidenced as yet with before and after dyno figures, as far as I know.

Bump starting a 'storm... Now that would be a unique video on Youtube!tony.mon wrote: A side effect is that it will make the engine easier (slightly) to bump start.
It was bad enough trying to do my brother CBR900RRRRR 'blade, and usually involved me having to switch from pushing to throwing myself across the pillion seat to just get traction. I don't even want to think what would be required with the 'storm!
