I know this has more than likely been asked before.
I'm more used to fuel injected bikes than carbs.
my gsxr750wn came fitted with a stage 1 kit so didnt need to do anything.
But I've got a set of Renegade race cans with hight level link pipes(not fitted yet), not doing any air box mods or filter changes yet, will the storm run ok with the cans with out rejetting?
whats the forums recomendations, I know the storms are tolerant of can changes but how tolerant?

chances are it will need rejetting, but stick with a standard air filter and put the cans on and see what happens....

Based on my personal experience from fitting Micron cans to my bike a few years back (way back when my bike was fairly stock, lol), you should be fine if sticking with a stock filter. Of course, adding in an aftermarket air filter will totally alter the equation. In the end, however, a dyno tune will allow you to extract the maximum performance (and response) from your new cans but it is not an absoslute necessity in most cases (again, so long as no other changes are made).

I'm just going to be fitting the cans for the min, was planning on doing the filter and dyno or factor pro kit later.

Stick with the standard air filter and the chances are you will get away with it. As soon as you fit an aftermarket filter your are stepping into a whole new ball game. It's not as simple as buying a jet kit and installing it. It's one big learning curve and you need to research it and be prepared to pull the carbs off the bike numerous times to get things either at a stage where your prepared to get it dynoed or keep adjusting thing's yourself until your happy. There's a lot of trial and error involved. If you want to take it to a dyno, the nearer you get it set up right, the cheaper the dyno will be.will the storm run ok with the cans with out rejetting?

On my last firestorm i fitted Arrow cans, dynojet kit (used the middle jet size) and K&N filter. it ran spot on like that, after a while i did take it to a dyno to check and it was sweet, also for the track i ran a std filter wih just the gauze (paper removed) it still ran sweet with the same jetting and made 2bhp more. don't know why alot of people have trouble with jetting on these bikes it was straight forward on my last one, surely they're all the same from the factory ??
I've just fitted cans to my latest one, all stock apart from that, hoping it runs well like the last one (broken hand means i can't ride it for a few weeks though), then filter/jet kit later on..

I currently have Art race cans, K&N filter and the TPS set below 500 and stick coils fitted. I was out on Monday for a little run and she was pulling like a train all the way up to red line in 1st and second no probs. I have not had to play about with any of the jetting yet. I will give it a few miles and will check the plugs for colour to see if they are the correct shade.
