I know what it feels like. Tried loads of things for an intermittent fault which was eventually a split front spark plug rubber which was split and would "wick" water down to the plug and cause the misfire
You just need a multimeter for testing the TPS or for adjustment. The biggest problem is getting the multimeter attached while connected and bike running. I would have thought the way round this is to make some link wires up with some piggy back spade terminals to connect to.

most of what you said went over my head to be honest wombles hate electrics
i will PM Benny see if and when he's free to take a look as he's the man who can oop norf!
If you haven't got a multimeter, it's always useful to have. I'm just wondering why that one is so cheap.
When you adjusted your TPS how did you do it. Did you remove it and bend the metal tab on the back, to get the extra spin anti clockwise getting it down to 500 ish. Did you undo the security torx or drill them out and replace.
If the TPS was faulty I would have though it would affect the idle speed. It won't do you any harm to rule it out though.

the idle is not great it fluctuates quite a bit if that's the right word, benny did it all mate it was done that quick i cant remember
don't he think he took it off mind, think it was just a case of wackking the bolts so they loosened up then probing it adjusting it however its done and niping it back up tight?
If the idle s fluctuating it is jets or an air leak somewhere, is one of the vac pipes leaking?
If you come to the workshop day, you can borrow the stick coils off my bike and test to see if they make any difference, that will eliminate that worry.
