Post by seb421 »

Got one in by chance and its sat right and there is the right slide speed / vacuum

can i get the other one in its seat, can i wombles. after an hour of trying i had run out of time and had to go to work

will have another bash tomorrow, how the hell ar you suppposed to keep it in the runner guide?

If your talking about the lip that fits into the recess on top of the carb just smear a little grease around the recess then settle the diaphragm into it. Load the spring into the top cap centre and then position and release. Piece of piss.

also helps if you pop a screwdriver handle in the carb bore to hold the slide half open when you pop it in...
that way the diaphragm doesnt turn itself over.
put a bit of rease in the recess, push the spring in the hole, turn the diaphragm so its pointing downwards then pop it in.
simples :D

it does take a bit of practice though... its one of them things like fitting the front breather on the airbox... drives you mad til you figure it out! :Ball Kick:
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

+1 I found this was quite sufficient and no need to use the screwdriver. Put the carbs between your knees with the open end of diaphragm upwards. Hold the spring in the cap with finger and release as close to the rear of slide as you can.

It also helpful to put a smear of grease on the inside of inlet rubbers as well when placing carbs back on bike. Push the front in first and then the rear. Carbs sit at a slight angle to the bike, this is normal.

On a hot day, the grease idea doesn't work as well because it thins out.
In that case you can use a smear of silicon sealer all round.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
