A square of filter foam is less than a tenner; you can make dozens of them form a single square.
But if it's 10mm thick it needs to e cut in half thickness-wise, so that it's not too thick.
Scissors work fine.
Lack of power bogging down

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
Re: Lack of power bogging down
I am missing the foam filters and the air can get unhibitted to the carb tops. I have ordered some and will cut to shape. My tank had rust in it I have found out after stripping everything down. I have flushed it out and now sealed with Petseal Ultra but this takes 7 days to cure......hence the lovely hot sunny days and no bike. I will have to clean the entire system now with carb cleaner and blow out. I have also brought two inline filters to hopefully stop anything I've missed.
The plastic slides and carb tops look like they have been rubbing quite bad, could this be down to the un-filtered air coming in straight to the top or have I another problem about to raise it's head?
Has anyone got any good or bad stories about Petseal Ultra that I should know about?

Re: Lack of power bogging down
not related to the question on the slides etc, but regarding the main problem have you confirmed that you have the plastic tray fitted under the carbs.?
there should be a black plastic cover that fills in the front of the frame, from the front cylinder inlet to the headstock. if this is missing the turbulent air screws up the fueling and it will never run well.
just a random thought but worth mentioning

That's a very perceptive point that. BSM's plastic tray thingy was missing. It made a difference putting that back in.
Have your slides got channelled out scratches on them? or is it just discolouration. The petrol over the years seems to leave a whitish residue on them that could be mistaken for wear.
I think once you have given everything a good clean through, make sure you get all the channels through the carbs and jets. Set it up right you will be OK.
Blast the holes in the bottom of the float bowl, through the hole where the float valve sits. (check the valve for wear) Take the mixture screw out, blast through there, you will see it spray out the other end in the main chamber by the butterfly flap. Take the diaphragms out etc etc. A thorough strip and clean. And don't forget the tiny holes in the pilot jets and emulsion tubes. Particles can easily get trapped in those. Basically every orifice you can find give a good squirt through with carb cleaning spray
Then see where you go from there. At the same time make a note of you jet sizes and things. And don't mix the emulsion tubes up, there is a subtle difference.
