I'd suggest that you start looking at the various threads on this forum already on the the subject, try the search box top right.
Cans are what they're usually called.

But you can drill holes in the standard ones as a stop gap measure. This is called a "bafflectomy".

Once you have a few more posts you can use the forum to the full.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Dave,
removing the rear internal baffle section from the honda standard pipe is a very worthwhile and lets loose the full VTR V2 growl . Great mod if you are on a budget.

If you want to keep your existing pipes unmolested for when you sell the bike, then I have a spotless set of Debaffled pipes in my shed that I am happy to let go for £50 collected or £60 delivered

You can blame me for that. He had standard mains in the carbs and the dyno was stupidly lean on top. So I put 190's in and it is now too rich, so I shall be putting the 180's back in.

Oh, and the stick coil was nothing to do with me. :biggrin I hear my name was dirt for a moment.

Can you not get a 185 mate? Halfway house

Why is it so difficult to get hold of individual dynojet mains too?

I would like to try a 180 and 185. The US kits supply the .5 increments, don't know the UK kits don't. UK kits don't get the springs either. Didn't know it was so hard to purchase dyno jets. Didn't Lloydie purchase some directly from them.

Dave, altering your fulling is something you may have to take into consideration with either a bafflectomy or an aftermarket exhaust.

as long as you dont mess with the airfilter you dont need to worry about rejetting

something you may
That's why I said may.

Theoretically even doing just the bafflectomy you open up the baffle to increase flow, gaining room to open up the airbox. Together and with tuning you gain effect. I would have thought Just shimming the needles to richen a tad will do the trick without the need to re-jet. Adding an aftermarket filter and thing change in a big way, time to re-jet then.

sorry Carl, the answer was a bit short as I should be working :shh: so it might have looked like I was biting your head off, but I wasnt...
I just wanted the OP to know that there was no concerns if he hacked the baffles out...........or better still helped me to empty my shed of pipes I will never use

from memory the bike runs a bit rich as standard so that little bit extra gas flow by opening the pipes up just helps get it into the optimum region and it didnt feel like it needed any tweaks, but I am sure there could be room for some optimisation if you were OCD on jetting :D

No you weren't biting my head off, it's still on my neck   Your quite right in what your saying and yeh it's a bit OCD, but as we are all (I presume) are trying to find a bit extra oomph and optimal performance. :biggrin
Maybe dave just wants some louder deeper tone cans. And if your on a budget you can't get much better than a Bafflectomy, it's a good move IMO. Should pass mot's as well as it's all BS stamped still

Funnily enough dirt wasn't one of the words he used....

As it was just a loose stick coil that was the root of the problem re the V1 running he should withdraw his remarks really.

Still when it was running & was re dyno'd with two cylinders it was still running like a bag o' shite & yes the fuelling was way out, but as jetting is a bit of a black art, trail & error thing I still don't think he has much to complain about. At least you tried......
