Greetings from Margate del Sol !

Post by Martyjuk »

Morning Folks,

After trying several Storms I have finally settled on this low-milage one from FleaBay, item number 180925505369.
(Missed it first time due to some idiot with zero feedback but offered second chance...). Custom paint job
may not be to everyones liking but it is growing on me !! (Will get photobucket a/c for future use!)

Filled up at Scratchwood services and set off for home via M1 > M25 > M2. Speeds mostly 80-85, occasional blast to 3 figure speeds
with 8-9 miles at 20mph crawl approaching QE2 bridge filtering past the stationary cagers!
Was keeping an eye out for the fuel warning light and saw it come on at 81 miles. Sods law, had just passed Farthing Corner services !
Bit worried having read this forum back to front several times ! Slowed down to steady 55-60 and watched the miles
clock up to 92 as I rolled into Whitstable services thinking I must be on fumes. Managed to squeeze in 9.1 litres to brim.

45 mpg..What is going on? Is the low fuel sensor adjustable?

Anyways...Hello to you all !!!

Hello mate and welcome to the forum. The later 19l tank is no better for accuracy on the guage. Mine will flash the low bar at around 110-120 but I don't think I have ever got more than 14l into the tank.

Thanks fellas; have read the numerous posts re fuel consumption...don't wish to start yet another discussion re that!
Would still like to know if the low fuel sensor can be adjusted as it seemed to come on when still half a tank left!
Have searched the forum and also the downloaded manual...no mention if possible?

That's a nice looking bike you have there, a bit different with the silver decals.

As far as the fuel sender goes. I have never tried but I would have thought the rod inside the tank could be bent so that the sender comes on at a lower level. I'm not sure if there is much room for play in there though.

welcome nice looking bike in the photo, I think the silver star works.

regarding the fuel sender, it sounds bent, it might have been removed when they painted the tank and got bent that way, as mine will take at least 11l when the lamp comes on [same 16l tank as yours].

welcome aboard Marty

Just noticed your over in sunny Margate, I'm over in Ashford get over to Margate regular as my other half has friends over there.
trust me the fuel economy goes down after you get used to the storm
think worse mines done is about 80 miles but I was playing with a few bikes on the way to Rye.

do you or will you be going to the Adelaide cafe or down to H's on the A2, will look out for your storm, very distinctive
