just wondering if the sp link pipes will fit a standard vtr1000f

No is the simple answer. The right one may be OK but the angle on the left is totally different.

Yeh cut the bend and put another on. The left link pipe on the SP is something like 45 degrees and the Storm is a 90 degree. You may be able to twist the pipe around on the header pipe but this pushes the link outwards and the can will stick out sideways away from the frame. Looks very odd compared to the right hand side where the angle is good.
I tried all this with my SP link pipes that came with the cans. I ended up cutting the linkpipe short and putting a 90 degree madrel piece in it's place.
So yes with a bit of work it will fit, like anything with a bit of work, but its not a straight swap. Also the diameter is a couple of mm different from the storm so there's that to contend with as well.
