where does you needle sit?

Post by hugeduck »

on my old beemer i know every car is different when it comes to the temp needle, some sit at 1/4 some sit at half and some sit at 3/4, soooo where does your needle sit on your storm? mine doesnt really sit anywhere, when i'm in traffic it goes all the way to half then the fans come on and when i'm booming it, it sits really low. is this normal? dont want to be doing 140 on a cold engine lol

cheers

Same here - on a hot day in traffic it will get halfway.

If it's cool (doesn't have to be cold) then it hardly moves.

Mine sits around 1/3 if that as long as I'm moving and it's not a really hot day. It creeps up if stood still and the fans kick in after its gone past halfway.

I've been running mine since '97 and it acts just like yours so you have nothing to worry about.

Well I was going to reply with, as long as the needle is not on my seat I don't mind where it is.

But then I thought better of it,

Mines the same as others, needle goes up to about half way, then just over the fan kicks in. And yes it is normal for the temp to go down as you go faster. Think about it, you have all that cold wind air hitting you and going through the fins of the rads cooling things down. Temp will fluctuate and will get most hottest when sitting around idling.

Yeah they're not like VW's where the needle comes up to 90 and stays there!
