I have a feeling ones some heat gets into those rockers the paint will change again with heat and fully cure. It should hopefully darken up a bit. I'm not sure about lacquer as it will most probably blister with the heat and may react with that paint

+1 i did a rocker cover on my old capri yrs back and it changed when it got heat thro it, try it with a hot air gun if you have one

It will darken as it fully cures which will take 24 hours and being VHT probably needs the heat to set it off.

or pop it in the oven when the other half goes out

Hot air gun is a good idea but knowing BSM he will overdo and strip the paint back off.

The VHT Crinkle paint requires the use of heat ie hot air gun to get the crinkle effect. And each coat should be applied in different directions.

I don't know if you would actually need vht paint for the rocker covers, I used standard hammerite silver on my gs's cylinders and it's coped no probs for six months now
A good etch primer is needed though!

the paints a smooth finish not wrinkly likelloydies ball bag
sounds like i won't get to see the finished effect until its heated up then, what if i put them ontop of the end cans and run the bike for ten mins would that work...

Within a millisecond your freshly painted heads would vibrate onto the floor and achieve the surface look of a lunar landscape! With the added benefit of bits of grass/fagends/kentucky buckets becoming attached with superglue like ferocity.

as far as the oven goes i'm tempted, but the lady of the house would have an absolute sh1t fit if i did that, i could always wait for her to go out, but i'm worried the smell from the cooking rocker cover would be awful......
