engine rattle

my vtr has just encounterd a rattleing noise, it sounds like it is comming from the cylinder head area, still starts up ok but sounds like a bag of nails , any ideas ?

DO NOT try starting until you have ruled out Cam Chain Tensioner failure.

Do you have standard exhausts on? The reason I ask is would you still hear it with noisy pipes on?

Sorry to ask another question on your thread...

I have read that a cct failure does sound like 'a bag of nails' as Wicky says do not start it again until you can rule out cct fail!

just spoken to a garage and it is looking like cct failure, Yes I have pro seriesII exhausts on and you can still hear it

Once the engine damage is fixed don't replace with original manufacturer auto CCTs unless they are made fail safe. They can fail at any time without warning. Either fit manuals or Fail safe (Stop mod) replacement originals. :thumbup:

Unfortunately the CCT's are the one major flaw with VTR's. :(
