Indicator buzzer help required

Post by Styler4077 »

Buying these for two friends who I ride out with in our group Sunday runs who are forever leaving their indicators on. ( I never do of course 8O 8O)
Can anyone see a problem with this attached to the relay as it as far as I can tell draws very little so should not affect the flash rate.

eBay number 120968455086

Cheers

Stephen

I would have thought it would be OK. Have you seen these kits here for the VTR http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-VTR1000 ... 4169b946f7

I have a kit on my TDM as the sat nav obscures the indicator light. Easy to wire in and mine has earths through the front brake switch so when the front or back brakes are on, the buzzer stops sounding (useful at the lights) though the indicators continue as normal. Really neat thing really and is great when touring abroad when you are looking to see where you are etc and sometimes leave the indicators on then wonder why a Citroen has pulled out in front at a junction

No disrespect intended to any of you who have a cheaper indicator warning device, but my experience of a simple buzzer I bought was not to my liking to put it mildly. Mind you I am a fuzzy bu**er.
I've got one of these, but they are quite expensive IMHO:-

If you press the indicator lever in it turns your indicators off (if they are on)

If you press it in after each corner it will switch the indicator off......

No disrespect I'm just trying to save you some money

You must be very forgetful if after 1 corner/junction you've forgotten you've had the indicator on? Lol :-)

I think i will invest in an audible warning system, cost within reason is not a problem
if i feel I'm getting value for money with a £40 system over a £10 one.
My other bike was made in 1983 and has self cancelling indicators that work really well
so when i take the "fast lass" for a run i do overlook cancelling the signals manually from time to time ....
i don't want it to be one time to many.

I think we all do it now and again. Self cancelling would be nice. I wonder if there's a way of adapting standard one for that. I think it would have to work of the steering somehow like cars.

I'm obsessive about checking mine so I never leave them on. Plus the sound would drive me mad, though I like Stratman's idea about wiring the 0V through the brake switch so it doesn't make you look (sound?) like a tw@ sitting at lights waiting to turn.

I check the choke is in about 10 times even though before I check I remember just checking it............

You will either need 2, one for left, one for right or 1 and 2 diodes. The diodes are to stop voltage feeding back and giving you hazard warning lights instead of indicators when you indicate left or right.

Hard to explain if you don't understand electronics, but very simple and diodes are cheap. Let me know if you need any help and if you already know then sorry but thought I would mention it just in case....
