Hi there. I'm new to the forum. I've had my storm since 2010 with many km's of fun. I've done some other cosmetic work on it so far. A few pics of my progress :
when I got her in aug 2010 :
Morphing so far :
Changed Headlight again :
Time for a color change :
And now the sad part :
Hit big-end bearings on the 4th of August. Busy rebuilding entire engine.... Its been very challenging sourcing parts so far. I'm planning on going getting hc pistons, lightened flywheel, stick coils , manual cct's and a few more small things here and there. I've learned a lot so far from reading up on the workshop forums and I'm looking forward to learning more from you guys as I go.
I was going say I love the graphics, especially the bit by the front indicator as it looks like an eye. And then you changed the colour. Cool headlight as well.
Looks like your have your hands full there with the rebuild. If you get stuck with anything were here to help. There are specs for how much to take off the flywheel on here somewhere.

Thanks Carl
I spent a lot of time reading up on everything on this forum before i joined. had that paint job on there for over a year and a half but started getting bored with it and it did not look so brilliant no more(Plenty of stone chip marks). I decided to mix my own paint to get a unique color but before I could finish the final coat and all the polishing work the engine died on me. I found the lightened flywheel specs last week and gave it to the engineering shop when I dropped all the parts off last week friday. I should be getting all the engineered bits tomorrow but then the fun really starts sourcing & getting all the parts. I'm still trying to find pistons locally but no luck so far and off course need to wait for payday before I can order the parts(the engineering is costing me R3000.00 so far)....

Good luck with the re-build.
thanks Kev
I used a donor light and front fearing from a "big boy gpr200r"(korean make, I think). Both parts only cost me R600 here. I cut away all the parts from the fairings I didnt need and fibreglassed it all together. was a bit worried that the glass would crack loose from the plastics but 2 years down the line it's still holding. I will post a few pics of that mod in the workshop section when I get a chance.
Workshop section is good mate. Or start a build thread in the Pimp Ride section. Specific questions would be better in the workshop though, but there's no harm in both.

Can't believe you made a lovely Yellow one black though
Hope the rebuild goes ok - as you say gives you the perfect opportunity for a few improvements.
Hi rob. thanks. I didn't change the color. I was driving so fast one day that the bike changed color by itself...... I think she decided that the yellow was slowing her down....
rebuild is goin a lot slower than i hoped.... the guys at the engineering shop are taking their time.... when i took it in last week they said it should be 2 days and ive been waiting 7 so far. phoned them this morning and they said that they are still busy .
Btw: I have the original headlight lying around here taking up space after I did the dual headlight mod.... any idea what its worth + how to sell it? It doesn't look like I can post on "sales + wants".

Thanks tasum. When I sanded it down before I resprayed it yellow again, I found some leftover red here+there.... could say been there', done that....
I live on a small piece of land(about 8ha) 40km's from Johannesburg.
As for the sun, this is for you guys:
and a quick pic from my back porch:
a bit dry at the moment coz we haven't had our first summer rain yet....
I don't know anything about that. It could always get re-bored.
You should be able to get some oversize pistons. I believe they are a special order though. There is always the High compression route if you want to beef up the BHP and turn the bike into a different animal all together http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic ... it=pistons
As for the headlight it's probably best to sell it through ebay. You want be able to sell on here until you have built up your post count a bit.
