alternative way to get fuel into engine

What's supposed to be connected on there Tony. I have just looked at my bike and strangely enough I don't have anything connected to that either.

You must have been editing your post as I was writing cause you've changed it. I was going to have a crack at the pies. So that top outlet on the therm housing, what is it?

It's a blanked-off nothing, goes nowhere, no hose connected to it, just put there as a Japanese April Fool joke.

on the choke cable i have come to realise the plastic bit that screw into the carbs that snapped can actually be removed which ive done surely u must be able to buy just that little plastic screw bit on its own rather than buying a whole new cable ?

I don't thinks so, Honda like to make money so sell a complete choke cable. Your best bet is either a bodge or eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_sop=1 ... ble&_rdc=1 Make sure they have the threaded bit on the end.

Or stick a post up in sales and want's. You nether now

The plastic part comes on the carbs, not with the choke cable. hence why the more durable brass snow mobile part has been employed/slightly modded in the US Superhawk as a replacement. As per the link you can get another set of carbs (ouch) to get the solitary placcy bit you need, or see the David Silvers link for the Honda Starter Valve set kit that might include one - give em a ring to find out but at £35+ *ouch!*.

That's weird how the coolant pipes bypass your carbs! No bloody wonder we had crossed wires finding them lol!

Spose if your not using it in cold winter then what's it matter....

probs the person before me did it as he only used it in the nice weather ... i use it all year rnd tho .. i do know in winter i have some trouble sumtimes getting it started in the mornings like

Yeah me too, last year when it was really cold mine wouldn't start!
Ran battery flat trying to crank it over...

Had to jump start it a couple of times off a car battery out the shed, weirdly it fired straight up!?

I don't think the missing coolant hoses will have caused your bad starts as the coolant wouldn't have warmed up before its started running

Cause when your playing with carbs, re-jetting and you have to whip them out 20 or so times....

I would connect it all up properly personally. They are there for a reason.

Probably not but the water warms pretty quick before the thermostat is opened. You think of the temperatures in the cylinders as it's firing. Boom..

reason for carb warming pipes.........pour a bit of petrol on your hand, its cold, thats because it evaporates very quickly therefore taking heat away from what it touches, add into the equation fast flowing air and petrol and you have the effect of freezing wind. Your carbs would literally freeze up, your jets would block the bore would reduce with frozen air/petrol mixture. this is in extreme cases, our carbs are sat between 2 hot cylinders, above a hot bottom end and out of direct wind contact, therefore not such an extreme condition. Just a thought

Scotty, when you say you've tried it and it still won't start, did you blank of the vacuum pipe coming from the rear carb inlet (the one that goes to the carb' 4mm)
