Honda 600 RR 03 Stick Coil Loom

Post by Rob »

Just bought 2 * CBR600RR 03 Stick Coils off eBay.

What plugs/loom do I need for these? Any specific model/year or are they generic?

Might as well do the Stick Coil and TPS mod

Thanks.

Off on holiday for a week tomorrow so don't think I'm being rude if I don't reply. No phone/internet for the week - leave everything behind and chill :D
Would be nice to get the loom ordered in the morning so it's all waiting for my return though.

Having a look through ebay they all look pretty much generic apart from the 600FSi which is a grey plug.

Here's the cheapest I can find on the bay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-CBR600- ... 5d34c76675
Its a CBT600fx The picture is not very clear, but the plugs look the same as what I have and I have the same coils as you.

Going through what's available http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_sacat ... c=1&_sop=2
All the white plugs look the same.

Have a look at this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-CBR600- ... 1e717f4382
These are very clearly the same as I have. If you look at the end of the coil you can compare to double check.

You will only need half the wire's and find yourself cutting them midpoint where all the commons link.

[edit] I forgot to say, have good holiday. A nice relaxing one I hope  [/edit]

Cheers Carl, bought the last one even though it was more expensive as you can see the plug clearly and you say it's the same

In my experience trying to save a few quid usually ends up costing more

Service in around 300 miles so may as well do this at the same time.

Got back yesterday and stick coils/loom were waiting.

Was a bit confused until I realised you had to take the 'Nipple' off the end of the plug

Think I'm working for the next 12 days straight so will fit/service next free day I get.

Looking forward to getting back in the saddle tomorrow after a week away.

Bike should hit 24K next week, not bad as it was 20.5K at it's last MOT (March).

Yep chop the Black plug off, then the rest can be cut midpoint where the commons all link together. The rear coil is simple to fit, but with the front I ended up whipping my carbs and the plastic cowl out as the wire runs along the front bar.

It really is a simple mod mate, don't over complicate it. Establish the Earth colour for the coils on the donor bike and connect to the earth on the Storm.

You could do it without removing that lot, but I wanted a neat job with wires running the same as before. The other way would be to run the wires around the front. The front coil is just behind the front left rad.

Ok, thanks. Will try to do it the easy way and if I'm not happy can always tidy it up over winter.

*Edit - That was thanks to both of you BTW :D

Done today. Your right, it wasn't at all difficult.

I suppose running it back down the loom rather than in front by the oil cooler would have been better but as my bikes held together by bits of string and sticky tape anyway I couldn't see the point in being fussy.
