technical data
Hi can anyone tell me the compression figures in psi for a storm ? Also does anyone have a set of exhaust gas figures for a healthy storm I know it won't be exact but I could just do with ball park thanks
I only gamble with my life.

Greetings
It's in the downloadable PDF Honda VTR1000F service manual in the Workshop Knowledgeable section (Specs on pg. 10 & 125)
Cylinder compression at 350 min-1 (rpm) - 1,128 kPa (11.5 kaf/cm2, 164 psi)

Re: technical data
Cheers pal , iv had some strange issues bought this storm about 3 weeks ago it lasted 7 days till front cct failed and bent 4 valves which is about standard for me with vehicles, I have rebuilt with new valves although it has an odd issue since. first the plug caps were seemingly the issue but now they're sorted she's running under powered and dies off at high revs it feels like a fueling issue and I'm going to compression test it shortly just to be certain timings good but the gas analysis was suggesting rear pot rich front not a great deal of anythning but 20.4% o2 something peculiar is going down that's for sure
I only gamble with my life.
Re: technical data
Check the timing isn't out from chain slip and also that its not been set 180 degrees out - Hopefully you've replaced the standard OEM CCTs with manuals to stop a reoccurrence.
Did you follow the instructions for CCT replacement as set out here in the Knowledgebase thread as the Haynes way is wrong >> http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=8326
Also check that you have all fuel tank hoses fitted back correctly and are unpinched esp the fuel tap vacuum hose.
Get that sorted and replace R/R (if unfinned early version) and you should be up and running reliably and with a grin for many more miles

That's my initial thought.also that its not been set 180 degrees out
Make sure you are on the compression stroke when setting the timing. For the rear cylinder, crank on RT and cam lobes should be facing upwards and inwards and for the front cylinder the crank will be on FT and the cam lobes facing upwards and outwards

Re: technical data
Yes, it's the old timing 180 degrees out issue.
Reset the timing following Sirch's instructions EXACTLY which means setting the rear one first, then rotating the engine one and a quarter turns, not just until the next front tdc mark appears.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
