M61 Police chase?
Re: M61 Police chase?
That's just fookin crazy. 25 and no sense, or sense but don't use it. It's those 25 year old's on sports bikes that are gonna get spread all over the floor or end up wrapped around a tree in the woods at the side of the road. I suppose there's gonna be a lot more of it because of the increase in motorcyclists. Also it's very easy to ride around those parts with no Insurance and stuff, just buy/nick a bike get on and ride. As long as you stick to the back lanes and stay away from the sleepy police hotspots.

Re: M61 Police chase?
you hardly ever see any police on the roads around Rye
here's one for you, my other half has a discovery, she parked it out side my back garden and the next door neighbour reversed into it. came and apologised and offered to pay for the repays.
it actually turns out, I know this from phoning the police to ask them a question about how to complain about the fact that said neighbours exhaust had been blowing like a tank for almost a year, that he had no MOT, no tax and no Insurance, turns out he hadn't had for almost 2 years. And it wasnt until I asked about the exhaust that anything got done.
Not having a moan at the police, I know for a fact that they are overstretch and suffering budget cuts but you have all these nutters 18-32 in played with cars and the same with some on bikes and nothing seems to get done about it, I know some of us older riders and I'm mid 30's can have the odd moment but we seem to know when to reign it in. alot of these youngsters don't or have no perception of the possible consequence's
Ive been out for group rides and had other riders on 400 and 600's jump in the group almost take a few riders out and then fly off at warp speed.
ive been riding since I was 16 and yeah I'm not perfect but some of the riding ive seen this year and last year is abysmal, followed a rider today, on way to mot centre, and I know the person and she past her test 6 months ago and I was shocked, wrong lanes on round abouts all sorts, I thought the test was ment to be harder now, maybe they should do a intermediate test after a year to make sure your riding ok.
sorry rant over and no offence intended to any one, just my views and thoughts.

Re: M61 Police chase?
The powers that be have put all of their eggs in one basket and removed the majority of traffic police and now rely on camera enforcement and HATO's (who are F*cking useless, limp Richard tossers, ahem, sorry about that).
Cameras create a bubble of legality for the 100yds either side of them and everywhere else they drive like knobbers without fear of capture. HATO's ride up and down motorways and park behind broken motors. Scarey. That'll stop any bad guys!!
Like every public service, without investment and good management nothing will improve.

Re: M61 Police chase?
hato's My clutch went last year on my work car on a busy section of the M20 and no a highways guy in sight and I was there 2 almost 3 hours waiting to be picked up.
problem we have now is so much needs investing in and its just not there.
I can see a point when there are more riots in london and other citys if it keeps going the way it is.
but the government are blinkered to sorting out the labour deficit, and dont appear to be concerned with anything else. The police, fire services, ambulance etc all need investment.
Sorry to say this and if I come across as a complete tw@, you have people like footballers and campany directors etc....getting paid sh1t loads and then refugees from other countries getting paid to live here, and some uk born families are on the bread line struggling, I just dont get the logic!
sorry for the rant guys!

Mate you won't be getting any criticism from this direction. Society worships the ground those mindless neandrathals tread and are upset when they move between clubs for yet more money, whilst there are elderly, disabled, people who are being cared for by family as there is no assisstance available anymore.
The very poor have no money to begin with, the very rich are treated with kid gloves so we don't lose the "best people" abroad. This leaves Joe Average to empty his/her wallet on a very regular basis to finance the countries needs.

Re: M61 Police chase?
Several years back, I was crossing the desert in Nevada on highway 50, (considered the loneliest highway with 90 miles between fuel stops and nothing in between). There is also an air base out there. On that stretch of road there is no one so riding at over 100 mph is not a problem. As I was minding my own business, singing a happy little song to myself inside my helmet, a pilot came out of nowhere flying very low and just behind the sonic cone and buzzed me! I nearly lost control! That guy was so low he could have burned the paint off my tank. He circled round for another go but the element of surprise was gone. I had to stop and pull over to empty out my drawers. I bet that pilot had a great laugh.Furrybiker wrote:Haven't had the chopper, but some years ago did get the fast jets out of RAF Valley playing lets scare the cr@p out of the bloke in the Jag! They popped over a hill and flew towards me at speed and at low level, then tried different angles for a while and cleared off.
It was like having my own air display!

Re: M61 Police chase?
so.....you fellas have much the same problems we have in the states. Too many nozzle heads, not enough police and the police we do interact with are more interested in shooting off their pop guns than enforcing boring laws. Can't even get a cop to come to an accident scene unless some one has a gun. Then you better get scarce so you don't get shot, too!TonyW650 wrote:you hardly ever see any police on the roads around Rye

Re: M61 Police chase?
You must have had a fuel can strapped on the back of the storm especially with speeds over 100. Sounds like a very nice stretch of road where you can be at one with nature. I wonder how long before you saw it, that they had picked you up on radar. They obviously knew you was there. Are you sure it was a plane and not a UFO90 miles between fuel stops

Yep cops are the same over here. Never around when you need one. I think they are more concerned with earning money/revenue dishing out tickets for for petty stuff than catch the real crims. And the way thing's are at the moment with government cut backs and stuff there are less and less of them on the street and more cameras doing the work, if they have film in them that is. They are still not all converted to digital as of yet

Re: M61 Police chase?
at the time I was on a BMW but at those speeds I almost ran out of petrol before each stop. The road is very long and straight, so straight you could put your feet up on the bars and take a nap! Also, very hot out there so going fast just to get out of that place. That jet was more than likely an F-22 raptor. Could have been an F-15 or F-16. It was flying so fast it was hard to tell, not to mention my eyeballs smearing the inside of my visor!

Re: M61 Police chase?
This country has been a ticking time bomb for years, for one reason or another. Trouble is that when a few people get up the kahoonas to demonstrate displeasure about the protection the middle/upper classes are afforded, the nut job anarchists hijack the event...these are normally disgruntled ex public school assholes like that Bryan Ferry's son et al. The truth is that for years there has been no effective leadership of opposition to the poor treatment of the normal working class family...the vast majority of this country's demographics. As soon as any type of leader emerges, the Tory media crusifies him/her and we all join in. People like Galloway, Livingstone, Benn and Sheridan are willing to put their necks on the line but we banish them as arseholes without realising they can take the fight to the morons running this country...but need support. We are too occupied in personalities without seeing the bigger picture of effective political opposition. Gawd I could blast on for ages as I'm as hacked off as everyone else (fuel costs going throught the roof, my wife's shopping going from 50 quid a week to nearer a hundred in a couple of years). Rise up comrades!!!!cybercarl wrote:Tony, don't apologise were all thinking the same thing. Your not wrong in what your saying. This country is a ticking time bomb.![]()
