My Black Storm!!
Re: My Black Storm!!
Good old Charlie dog, was desperate to go for walk and here was me taking photos! Lol
The number plate is a slight concern, even for me! I know a few lads running a plate like that and so far they've gotten away with it, first time I get tugged for it its coming off, I'm gonna chance it as the back end is soooo much nicer, and the bike only ever gets used for back road hooning, got a car for the boring stuff!
Thinking ahead I've rang my insurance company up and declared every last little mod, even the tank pad so the copper can't pick up on anything else! One question though, are mirrors a legal requirement?

Re: My Black Storm!!
Nora, I'm not sure about mirrors being a legal requirement, at a guess they probably are, but my MOT tester says rear foot pegs are now required for the mot. Apparently if a bike was manufactured with rear foot rests then they need to be fitted for the mot.
On the gearing reduction bit, iirc 15/43 is like loosing top gear from standard gearing.

That's going to screw me up if it's the case.MOT tester says rear foot pegs are now required

If I have problems I will have to make spacers up so the pegs stick out past my cans.

Re: My Black Storm!!
Fit a seat cowl and then you have no need for rear pegs :-)
Re: My Black Storm!!
I have a seat cowl but that does not affect it according to this statement.

6.2
Pillion foot rests are not required on motor
bicycles that only have a single seat. In addition
some motor bicycles used on or after 14 June 1993,
which are intended to carry a passenger may not be
fitted with footrests but with hand holds attached to
the motor bicycles frame adjacent to, or part of the
seat. Refer to manufacturers information eg owners
handbook.

I think a short google search will show that the VTR was sold with a pillion seat and pegs

sounds like more stupid rules!

Re: My Black Storm!!
Was up for my MOT today, passed without a single advisory, perfectly legal to have no mirrors incase anyone was wondering, and for the first time ever Ive declared every single little mod to the insurance company, half of which the bloke said werent things classed as mods! £104 FC, was well chuffed!

Nice bike mate, with subtle changes. Where did you get the tail light?
Re: My Black Storm!!
Picked it up off ebay when I first got it, im sure there still on there!bellrock10 wrote:Nice bike mate, with subtle changes. Where did you get the tail light?
Thought id post this up, went out for a proper 200 mile blast p the lakes on Wednesday, which was the first time ive used the new calipers! And there simply awesome, the difference between these and the Sp1/Cbr600 calipers is a world apart, it actually took me a good while to get used to the extra power, I found myself hitting the brakes where id normally feel comfortable but slowing down way too much! There amazing!
All in all, completely rekindled the love for the bike, suspensions perfect and now the brakes are sorted Im well happy, was soooo close to chopping it in for a zx10r a few month ago!
Oh and the numberplate lives on.......for now! lol
