Post by BigVeeGrin »

Semm to have sprung a light leak from the rear cct. I'll trawl previous posts as I seem to remember someone had similar a while back, however, in the meantime any immediate tips on curing?

Cheers guys

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Needs a drop of sealant, Loctite on the thread if it's tracking down that. If it's coming from the base it may need sealant under the body. You need to set the TDC before loosening them to do it fella.

I had mine do the same it was leaking through the thread. All I had to do was to Loosen off the locking nut but keeping the setting outer nut in the same position (tipex blob on one of the flats) then I ran the locking nut up the thread exposing enough to allow me to apply a good dolup of thread compound. No leaks since. If it is the actual flange that is leaking then the unit will have to be removed & resealed. You will need to read the knowledge base to do this to insure you have the cam chain in the correct location before removing the CCT.

It's a good idea to actually loosen off the main thread and make sure the sealant gets inside the cavity. Then it will act as a brake if the locking nut happens to work loose one day. Otherwise it can unwind rather fast causing a failure.
