1998 rear fairing problem

Hello,

First post on here, so forgive me if this in in the wrong section. I was wondering if any of you chaps can offer a little advice regarding problems with the seat fairing and lugs?

The lugs that attach the rear fairing (which the seat sits on) to the frame have broken off and subsequently the fairing cracked in half above the rear light fitting.

I done a quick fix using fairing glue, plastic washers and a make shift bolt to hold the two half's together but I would like to get it either fixed up professionally (along with some other lugs on other fenders that look like they do not have long left either before they crumble) , if this even possible?

I have considered buying whole new blank fairing and getting it sprayed to the same pearl yellow as the rest of the bike, however from what I hear that is very difficult to colour match.

Does anyone on here have one of these rear fairings in pearl yellow they would sell or if you guys have any advice on getting it fixed up on how much that might cost, that would be a great help.

Do a Google search for plastic welding. The lugs are rather brittle though and I have had to re-inforce mine too.

just a thought, you said you might buy a new one and spray it but i think they are around 300 quid. but that is colour matched allready.(i think)
its a little expensive new but if you like your bike and dont plan selling it then it wouldnt be too bad a buy.thats what id probably do unless some one here had a decent yellow one on here that they could sell you.

Yes, and the bike in this thread is Y124P shining pearl yellow.

Looks like mine which is Y-163P? Mine is an FY though - I think the older ones were Y-124P

Bought a Honda fairing panel from David Silver years ago and it didn't quite match. Luckily I'm not fussy.

Also have broken cowl fixings - I just drilled a couple of small holes and tie wrapped it to the seat frame. No one would know. Well, you all do now

I'v had it for a few months and must say, the storm is one angry beast and hands down the most epic bike iv ever driven, so aye James fecking love it

I'm booking in to a plastic welding place over here for a chat next week. If it doesn't work out ill just fork out for a new one.

I will be putting a lot of work into it. New exhausts, wheels resprayed and enquiring about this "Paintwork Rejuvenation"?? they do while I'm there. Then of-course a HID light conversion as the stock one is weak as piss.

I will be sure to upload some pictures when I can.

Not sure man, what you think? The wheels where not coated by the chap I bought it from so paint is cracking off something fierce although you don't see it in those pictures.

I think the colour and the polished rims look good together! i was thinking about something similar for my bike, but is it a lot of work to keep the polished rims looking good?

i would maybe consider just getting them re done if the paint is flaking,however i like the look of matt black wheels too that might look good with the yellow,

Aye James,
The yellow wheels do look the part ...until it rains and then they get boggin very quickly and it rains a hell of a lot over here hence why I was considering black rims also. Might just add some luminous yellow rim stickers to them after that.
